Artwork Reflections

Balloons-Maggio.jpg

This balloon design is one of the first pieces of artwork I've done in Adobe Illustrator. This project introduced many tools in Adobe Illustrator to me. In this project I learned how to make the gradient. I used a yellow to red gradient to represent a sunset. I also learned abut the pen tool from this project. I used the pen tool to make the string for each balloon. The pen tool allowed for me to add motion to the balloons. It does much more for this piece because a solid background would not have looked as good in comparison.

This design I made after I traced my Adidas shoe with the pen tool. I made the shoe repeat, changed the transparency, and added a vignette. My favorite part was making the shoes overlap and have a fading effect. This design also didn't take too much time. I completed this piece of art in only about three classes because I had an idea of how I wanted it to turn out before I even began. I found my pieces tend to turn out much better when I have a vision before I even start This is my favorite design I've made all semester.

PERIOD5-MAGGIO-FAIREY.jpg

This is a picture of my friend pretending to hit a baseball. It is in a Shepard Fairey art style because of the yellow and blue background coming from the middle. I used the pen tool to trace this picture. I also used the pen to make my background design. I set a point at the edge of the paper and attached it evenly across the paper. I did this six times to make twelve "rays" in the background. I used yellow and blue pastel colors to make the background catch the audience's attention and really pop.

5-MAGGIO-LOGO.jpg

This design is a baseball bat hitting a ball with money coming off it. It symbolizes me improving at baseball to play at a level where I can make money from it. The neat thing about this design is it was originally hand drawn. I scanned it on the printer then sent it to my email to download and work on in Adobe Illustrator. After that, I made small adjustments including removing eraser marks, adding small details with the pen tool and adding realistic colors to the design. Finally, we printed out all of our designs and ironed them onto a big board.

MAGGIOpostprom.jpg

I made this artwork to serve as a flyer for Methacton's post prom. The goal of this piece is to catch the audiences's attention with a large TV design with a remote to its side. The most difficult part of this piece was definitely making the remote. The remote alone took a whole class period! I mainly used the circle tool and the pen tool to add small details to it. I also used the circle and pen tools to add detail to the TV including the knobs and speaker.
